Tomatoes or Potatoes?

This morning there was a provocation available for friends to check out. There were great conversations about whether or not they were potatoes or tomatoes. We had a great book to look at as a reference. Friends had really good ideas/theories about what we should do with them.

I wonder what these are?

"They're different colored tomatoes."
"We need to plant this, it's a potato."
"Tomatoes are not this big and their not shaped like this."
"It's a different kind of tomato."
"My dad has these all the time at dinner. I don't know why he likes them."
"Well I think it's a potato that you can smash."
"We can cut them in half and my mom can do something amazing with them."
"My dad have these at home and he cooks them."
How do you cook them?
"You have to put them on something, then put it in the oven."
"Sometime potatoes are like hard potato chips but they don't come from potatoes, their just chips."
