This morning friends carried out their plans of making tomato sauce! We headed to the kitchen to find a recipe and do some planning! We explored the smells and textures of tomatoes, garlic, basil, and olive oil.
"That doesn't smell delicious!"
We wrote out all of the ingredients we would be using.
Where can we find basil?
One friend really likes basil and often picks it as a snack when we are on the playscape; she knew just where to find it...
"In the garden!"
After we had everything prepared, we headed back to the classroom to share our plan with all the friends. We quickly got back to work cutting tomatoes!
The recipe says we need to saute everything; what does that mean?
"It means we need to cook it in a pan!"
As it cooked, friends began to agree that although a lot of our ingredients didn't smell very good, together it smelled delicious!
While it was cooking, friends grabbed all of our dirty dishes and created a washing and rinsing assembly line on their own!
When it was finished cooking, we put it in the blender.
"It's so loud!"
"Yumm!"
"Can I have more?"
Tomorrow we will make noodles and give this sauce a try!
