We've noticed an interest in letter writing recently in our classroom. This morning we took a stroll around the neighborhood. We brought along paper and pencils to write down any letters we came across on the way.
"I see words on the street."
"There are letters on that sign."
"I'll write then you write; we'll take turns!"
"A line down, then a line across."
"I see Jaxson."

Flowers
This morning, friends used their own ideas to create and paint representational drawings of a plant. As they painted, they began describing their work:
"I made a growing plant and my finger."
"I made the plant and the flower pot with different colors."
"I made these fans to keep the tree and bush cool."

Motor Boat
A group of friends worked together to create a motor boat using the big wooden blocks in our classroom this morning. Here lately when they build, it's been some mode of transportation. We will continue to listen and observe to see what else will transpire.
"This is our motor boat with a diving board. It goes 120 miles."- Jake
"The diving board is the coolest part."- Annabelle
"I want to drive."- Jaxson
"Oh no it broke. We gotta fix it."- Jayden
Some of our friends went on the playscape to work in our care space.

Rainbow Leaves
This morning a few friends went out to the hillside to play. Two friends noticed some very pretty leaves...
"They're rainbow because it's fall! It's still hot because of the sun though."
"I have an idea! We can take a group on the playscape to find more leaves!"
So that's just what we did!
"What a mess! We need to clean the leaves up!"
"Let's get to work!"

A Walk to the Forest
This morning we took a walk to the forest. We enjoyed exploring nature, finding treasures, and spending time with our friends in the Sycamore Room!
"Wow, that's a big hole."- EG
"Let's go through the secret path."
"Look at how pink my hands are."- MD
"I climbed up so high."- LT

"I'm going to investigate!"
This morning we put these out for friends to explore.
What are they? Have you seen them before?
Friends had so many theories!
"I'm going to investigate what it is!"
"I think they're for Chipmunks, they take them off the tree and hide them for winter."We then debated if a Squirrel is the same as a Chipmunk. We decided they're different.
"I think they're in the grass for the squirrels to eat. They're acorn shells!"
"I think they're walnuts!"
"I think they're seeds from something we've never seen before!"
Friends spent a lot of the morning building!
"It's a boat with a diving board!"
"This is our vroom vroom car!"
"It's our pumpkin patch!"
Friends had a discussion when we got back inside....
"We can cook the seeds!"
"The flowers will turn into pumpkins. That's what fruits and vegetables do!"
Does broccoli?
"No, because that's a living plant; pumpkins aren't living plants!"
"You can use them to make pumpkin pie!"
How do you turn the pumpkins into pumpkin pie?
"Well, I don't know!"
Have a wonderful weekend!

Milk Mixing with Colors
Friends have been working with color mixing this week and today they experimented with another form of color mixing. Today, friends used droppers to drop colors into trays of milk. They put Q-tips dipped with soap into the colored milk and watched as the changes occurred. The teacher asked: "What's happening to the color?" One of the friends observing said: "It's making a big circle. I think the color recognized that it wanted to do something that it didn't even plan!" Another friend said "It spread out to the other colors."
"This is so cool! It made a big hole!
"It's doing something cool. It takes away the color and it's swirling."
"It's getting bigger."
