A Trip to Rolling Ridge

Remember our bird house?

Friends wanted to know...

"Why aren't there any birds in there?"

"Maybe they think it's a trap."

"Maybe they don't know it's there."

"I think if we put a trail of bird food and put some inside there too maybe the birds will come."

So this morning we took a walk to Rolling Ridge in search of bird seed.

On the way we noticed birds, flowers, and our reflections in the shop windows!

 "We gotta cross the tracks but don't be scared."

 "There it is! That's where we're going!"

 "Whoa! Look at all those bird houses!"

"That's a bird feeder."

 We learned that Rolling Ridge has chickens!

First we met the babies...

"They don't look very little like babies."

Then we went outside to see the big ones...

"I think those are the parents."

"That one lifted his leg up and it went inside him."

We couldn't believe what Ms. Lauren found in the garden while we were on our walk!

"It's an egg case!"

"Praying Mantises are going to come out of there like the ones in our classroom."
