A Morning in the Forest

It was a beautiful day to head to the Forest!
Friends played "instruments" on our way there.
 Many friends found sticks.
"I think your doggy would like this. Can you take it home to him?"

We love exploring the Forest with our friends. No matter how many times we go, there's always something new to investigate.

We heard many giggles as friends rolled down the hill!

We saw so many beautiful flowers!
"Did you know those are tulips?"

A Lovely Day

This morning friends asked to continue shadow building from yesterday in our block area. They made cool structures and got a kick out of seeing their shadows!

It was such a lovely day we decided to take a walk around the neighborhood!

 We noticed beautiful flowers-

Neighbors working in their yards-

"It's grass everywhere!"
"Someone's been cutting their lawn."
And a little box with books in it-
"I think it's a library."
"No it's a mailbox for books."
"The mailman will deliver books here!"
Happy Friday!!

Bird Call

Today during capers, a group of friends worked on attracting birds to our bird house.
"What's this part of the bird seed?"
"I think maybe they're raisins."
"It feels squishy."
"Did you know pterodactyls are just another species of bird?"
"How can we reach?"
"Maybe we could use the stool from the classroom."

"No, No, we need to do a bird call and they will come!"

"We need to leave a trail."
What is a trail?
"It makes a line with something to where you want something to go. Or like if your shoes get muddy outside then it leaves a trail."

Bee's Bee's Bee's

This morning we had an awesome treat! Mr. Ken a grandfather of a friend in our school, came to visit and brought with him some very special friends. Mr. Ken is a beekeeper who brought along bee's with him to share his love and knowledge of bee's with us.

"I know what beekeepers do, they take care of bee's and make honey."
When working with the bee's Mr. Ken puts on his bee outfit. A light colored shirt and make sure his arms are covered for protection. He puts on a bee hat to protect his face and head.
Mr. Ken shared with us that bees help our flowers and vegetables to grow.
Do bees communicate?
They sure do, they communicate by dancing!
Of course we had to get up and give it a try!

Before our time was up everyone got the chance to take a closer look!
"There's even some babies in there!"
"How do they even come out?"
"The bee's are different sizes."
Clearly our class who LOVES insects enjoyed hearing all about the bee's today!

Butterflies don't eat PB&J.

Friends observed a big change today!
"They're in their cocoons now!"
"They're turning into butterflies!"
"They're gonna come out and eat leaves. Yeah, butterflies eat leaves. They don't like to eat my peanut butter and jelly sandwich."

"Why is that one still at the bottom?"
"It might be dead."
"Or maybe it's just like a statue."
"Oh, I just saw it move!"

We continued to do some more research.
"What is a chrysalis?"
Many friends thought a chrysalis and cocoon are the same so we looked it up and learned that moths form cocoons and butterflies create chrysalises.
"But in the Pete the Cat book yesterday it said cocoon and a butterfly came out."
"I remember that it said pupa."
 "Many butterflies are very recognizable."

"It's Corn I Knew It!"

Friends explored parts of Corn on the Cob today! They had conversations about how they cook and eat corn at their houses.
"It's corn I knew it!"
"I took the hair off."
"My daddy loves corn on the cob!"
"Do you know that I eat this?"
"I have corn at my house."

"I took off the stem!"
While exploring the corn on the cob one friend asked, "can we paint the corn?"
 "This is so cool!"
"My hands are getting all messy!"

"I need to wash my hands now."
