We Will Miss You, Ms. Cindy!

Tomorrow is Ms. Cindy, our cook's, last day. We are very sad to say goodbye to her but know she will have a wonderful time with her grandchildren!

We had a surprise celebration for her today! Here is a picture of the gift pink room made her.

All of the rooms presented her with a gift.

Then there was a game celebrating what Ms. Cindy does for us. It was a pancake flipping game!

Finally we had a dance party!!

Orchestra

The high school orchestra played beautiful music for us today! They played a few songs from Frozen, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Incredibles, and much more!

Day 1- Eggs Placed in Incubator

Ms. Katie came in this morning and placed our eggs in the incubator! She told us the incubator will turn the eggs every 45 minutes. We have to check the temperature every day and make sure water is in the middle holder to keep the incubator at the right temperature and humidity. This will be their new home for 21 days!

We placed a chick in day 1 of our count up!

Planter Construction

Our work started early this morning by bringing in the materials from Maggie's car.

The group started by constructing the frame of the planter. They screwed together metal poles with the help of Shannon and Robert. The children stood on chairs to reach the top pieces.
A lot of measuring was required to move forward in our work. The children put their counting and number recognition skills to work. A decision was made to make 2 big boxes and 2 smaller boxes. This will help give the plants what they need to grow. More light!

As the boards were measured and marked, Charlotte's dad used his saw to cut the boards.
"It's loud!" -Elyse
Many children agreed! However, it cut the boards very quickly!
Maggie's mom showed us how the boxes were going to look and the children helped place the pieces together. Maggie, Topher, and Ava numbered our boards so we knew which boards went to each box.

Then we began to assemble. The children marked where screws needed to go on the boards and then drilled holes. They placed screws in each hole and then drilled the boards together to make a planter box!

We have our 4 boxes assembled!

Tomorrow we will work on our art designs for the boxes in preparation for help from more parents on Friday!

Planter Materials

Rob and Ms. Lauren went to Lowes to get the materials. The workers at Lowes were happy to help us with our questions and ideas! They were impressed with the children's design.

Making Playdough

The children cooked Playdough in the kitchen today.

It's red and smells like cherry. Can you guess the secret ingredient???

What Is It?

Some children noticed a cabbage sitting in the middle of the table. Others were not sure what it was!

They looked closely at the designs in the cabbage.
Blakely said, "It feels like purple lettuce."

We cut the cabbage to see what it looks like inside.

We noticed beautiful colors and patterns.
