Nest Noticings

This morning friends listened to the story, "Pig's Egg" which sparked more conversation about families, animals, their babies, and their homes. We recalled the momma Robin that made her nest on our playscape last year and wondered if there were any eggs in it now. So, we went down to explore but of course we needed some way to get up tall enough to see!
"What do you notice?"
"There's no birds or eggs. I don't think anyone lives here."
"I see sticks."
"What's this blue thing?"
"It looks like a string."
"I see lots of grass."
"I need a glass to look closer."
"I see sand, I think the bird got it from the sandbox."
One friend even spoke very softly as she peered in so that she didn't disrupt the birds that might be found in the nest.
"We need to add some more things like this to our nest."
