Pajamas & Popcorn

This morning we had mail...in the form of a postcard!
"It has a stamp on it!"
We noticed the the stamp had lines through it!
"Why did they draw lines in it?"
"I think those lines are so that no one uses it again?"
"You can't use it again because it wouldn't be sticky anymore."
"We put stamps so it will get sent. They won't send it without a stamp."
"But why?"
"Let's look it up!"
We found out that the stamps are how you pay for your mail to be delivered! That's how mail men and women get paid for delivering mail.

"I sent the mail! It's from my really fun trip!" -A
We think postcards are pretty cool!
We were filled with excitement today!
"I need to send this leaf to my Avery and tell her we found a Maple leaf!"
There were so many beautiful leaves to see and of course collect as we headed to Lempke to deliver our thank you letter.

"Mr. Lempke!!"
You never know what you might find on a walk! This little snail was a hot commodity today!
"Can I hold that?"
"I want to find one too. Will you help me find one!"
After our walk we came back to school for socially distance popcorn and a Halloween story!
We went outside after lunch and I overheard a few friends talking about how this was the best day! It's the little things :)

Natural Builders

We started our morning with some fizzing potions!

We are excited to turn our box into a mailroom and think we might need another to make a mail truck! Until then, we will play in our box:)
We love our box so much so we wrote a thank you letter to Lempke!
"When people do nice things for us we should write them thank you letters." -N

Then we got start on our mailbox post!
"TOOLS!!" -J
We started by measuring the bottom of our mailbox to make a base.
"How many is this?"
"Nineteen inches!"
We made marks where we need to cut once we bring in the saws.

Friends started comparing the sizes of the screws and testing them out in the holes at the bottom of the mailbox.
"We are trying to figure out which screws will work!" -E

Friends loved testing out the tools and practicing putting screws into a scrap piece of wood! I've gotta say, they're natural builders!
"Let me screw in this guy!" -J

Forest Mail

We were so excited to celebrate Ms. Gayle's birthday!
As soon as she walked in this morning...
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!"
"We made you gifts!"
"And you have lots of mail!!"
"Open mine!"
"I have one for you to open too!"
We went walking to check our Forest mail!
J called on the walkie, "Dogwood, Pine, did you find mail in the Forest?"
They did! So J (whose class job is the postal worker this week) headed into the Forest with Ms. Gayle to get our mail.
"Guys, there's mail! We have mail!"
"Yay! Forest mail!"

Before heading back to school, we made a pit stop at Lempke to ask if they had any boxes. They said to come back, that they would have one very soon! We got back to school and sat down for lunch. Ms, Gayle took a peek and there was a huge box!
N suggested, "This is perfect for us to make a mailroom with!"
"Great idea!"

"What does the mail say?!"

Can You Keep A Secret?

We spent a lot of our morning working on special birthday surprises...shhhhh!

Our friends are so loving and kind!
Stay tuned to see what they shared about the birthday girl!

We also created our own stamps.
"Will they know how to get the mail to the right place with these stamps?"
We talked about the purpose of real stamps and these are just pretend for our Maple mail.
"That's a beautiful heart you made on yours!"

Since it was so cold and rainy, we stayed inside and built an obstacle course in the hallway!
