Tons of Trucks and Moonlight

What a commotion in front of school! We just HAD to go watch the trucks tear up Gray.

           W. informed us that this truck was grinding up the road. He was certainly correct!

Tried to catch a glimpse of the train but instead learned that freshly tarred roads are STICKY!

Back in Maple, friends noticed a container of flashlights. The room turned dark while we found ourselves reading by “moonlight” inside our houses. J. called friends, “See how sparkly this is!” as she sent her beam of light into an open window. It was so fun to see how thrilled they were to discover a new way to explore light and dark spaces. We need to remember simple pleasures!

Friends crawled onto their cots and made moons on our ceiling.
It was very relaxing!

Counting Down Our Days On Maple Street

This morning we started a hard conversation about our beloved Maple Street...
When do we take it all down?
"We don't, it can just stay forever and the friends next year can play with it too!"
"But then how will our room get cleaned?...And don't you think they might want to make their own houses?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
"Maybe we can take them home?"
"But how will they fit in the car?"
"My dad's car is pretty big!"
"They're kind of falling apart. What if we just keep pieces of our houses to take home?"
"That's a good idea!"

Our next question is how long to we wait to do this? It's almost summer.
"Tomorrow is summer!"
"Not tomorrow, but it's really soon!"
"How many days?"
We decided to find out by making our own countdown calendar.
"We make these all the time at my house when there is something coming up that we are really excited about!"
After creating our calendar we decided that we will soak up our time together in our neighborhood for the next couple days(reminder no school Friday, May 7th), then next week the clean up will begin!
"We've got a lot of work to do!"
We also shared ideas for fun days on the last week of school. There were many great ideas and although everyday at Ambrose is fun, there is sure to be a week to remember...stay tuned!

Driving our "cars" down Maple Street!

"Let's draw our neighborhood so we can remember it forever!"

Jungle Gym

Our morning was calm but full of catching up with one another. Lots of us spent time outdoors with grandparents, family and friends. J. had her first camp out!

Teens too soon! Telephones and hairdos:)
                                                               M.-I see you Miss Gayle!

The boys built a doghouse. No worries though, they were up to good trouble.

Forest Day became Jungle Gym today. N. made unique lettuce wraps from leaves and quite a few friends joined her for chocolate rolls, starbursts and cheese stuffed breadsticks. I’m surprised they had room for lunch😆

                           A.-I’m floating in this tree!

                                                               E. liked this peek-a-boo pic.

N. slipped but bounced right back. “I’m okay!”
And much to everyone’s delight, A. discovered a box turtle!

Bye-bye Turtle, we hope you have as much fun as we did!
But maybe stay off the jungle gym:)
