As the school year begins, we are carefully watching for sparks of curiosity, joy, and wonder. Sometimes, a single joyful moment, like the laughter that erupts from an accidental splatter of paint, can open the door to new possibilities.
This is exactly what happened last time we painted. WA accidentally lost grip of her paintbrush flinging paint and causing little splatters on her paper, the ground and even her face. She was surprised and erupted in laughter.
So, this morning we read the book, How to Spot an Artist...
"You are there best artist in the world!" SG
"I’m the artist that puts glitter on my painting." LZ
"I’m the greatest artist." ZM
"I made something beautiful this morning with the dot markers." NW
We also learned a little bit about Jackson Pollock and his technique using paint. We began exploring his methods of dripping and plan to explore this on a larger scale tomorrow!
On that note, please dress with the possibility of getting a little messy tomorrow!
