"I'll measure you!"

After small capers today, our Pink Room friends got busy measuring different items and people around the room using a variety of measuring tools.
"Has anyone ever measured our tubes?" -Avery

"Can you measure my head?" -Eli

"It goes up to the top.  That means the table is this tall." -Tommy

"Come here Anna C.  I'll measure you!" -Kingston

Our friends also decided that today was a great day to cut open the pineapple that was introduced last week with a fruit provocation.
"We have to cut the top first." -Trinity

"It smells like pineapple juice." -Haley

"Let's try it!" -Jayden

We then noticed that the top had 'leaves,' and began pulling them off to get a closer look.

We then put the top of the pineapple in a jar of water.  We're interested to see what happens to it over the next several days.

Magnetic Tubes

Today a few magnet tubes from the motor room was available in our classroom for friends to use.
Why won't the tubes stick to the table?
"Because these have magnets on them and the table isn't magnetic. We can stick them on this board."- Finn

At our class meeting friends had a conversation about the kind of materials magnets would stick to. We will continue to investigate. Today, we also celebrated Ms. Becky's birthday by singing to her and presenting her with a birthday book.

Enjoying the sunshine!

We spent much of the morning enjoying the sunshine and dry weather in a variety of ways.
First, we decided it was a good day to plant our apple seeds that came from last week's batch of apple juice.
"Cover the seeds with dirt." -Jayden

"It's soil!" -Haley

We also went on a walk.

Pink room friends enjoyed exploring reflection and movement in various shop windows.

We also noticed our echo's in a few enclosed spaces along the way.

"The moss is soft!  That's why it's called moss." -Finn

"Look at that flag!  Did that flag grow out of there?" -Haley
"No.  Some person just put it there." -Harvey

"Why are there umbrellas?" -Eli
"Maybe because it's supposed to rain." -Trinity

Friends were very interested in the structures along our way as well.
"The top looks like a pyramid!" -Avery
"There's big circles and designs!" -Haley
"I see a rectangale." -Harvey
"There's a square in the rectangle." -Nora
"At the top it's an upside down heart!" Henry

When we returned, we explored the hillside.  Our friends found worms and created a 'worm home.'
"Worms help our earth.  We need to help keep them safe." -Finn

We'd also like to an extend a big 'thank you' to Finn's mom for coming to read us a story about friendship!

"Remote Control Rafter"

A group worked in the classroom on designing a "ramp maze" for the remote control rafter to move through. They worked together and had conversations about how long and wide their maze should be.
"This doesn't belong there. We need it in another spot."- Avery
"What about here?"- Melody
"If we put it here the ramp will be longer."- Anna
"We need one more block."- Jayden
"Push"- Kingston
"Let's open this up a bit, we need it to be wider."- Avery

Some friends decided to use their bodies as tunnels.
They wanted the rafter to move down the line but had a hard time keeping it straight.

"Something is going on with the back wheel."- Anna
"I think it works better on the carpet."- Avery
