The Rooms are Now Numbered!!!

Today was the day! A small group went out to hang the numbers that we had worked so hard to create!

We started by looking at a map of the building. We identified the numbers that were already there, and found where our new numbers should go.

It's time to hang! While one person hung the numbers, the others directed them where the numbers should be placed.

After each number was hung, we went back to our list of rooms so that we could record what number we had hung by that room.

"Now, what number do we need?" -Tommy

"Up just a little. The other ones are up higher!" -Eli

As we continued our work, we noticed we didn't actually have enough numbers.  We decided to go back to the pink room to make one more!

We found that playing with the "ticky tack" was fun, too!
"How does it stick?" Harvey

"Because it's made out of hard glue." Eli
"It's so stretchy." -Savannah

Finally, all of the numbers were hung around the building. Some friends who had been working in the classroom wanted to see the new numbers, so the group who had been working on them led them around the building to show what they had done.

Now our friends can use these numbers to help them track which rooms in our building have echoes!
Be sure to check out our new numbers as you walk through our halls.

Let's write some numbers!

Today a small group set out to continue our work on numbering the different spaces in the building. In talking about our process, friends decided that it was time to begin writing the numbers!

We referred back to a list made previously by another group.  We also made a list of rooms that do not yet have numbers. This helped us to know how many numbers we need, and which numbers we needed to make.

Number writing can be tricky, so we thought it would be best to write in pencil first. Friends explained that this way, we can erase if we make a mistake.

After the number is written in pencil, we needed to trace them with black marker so that they matched the other numbers on the walls around the building.

After making several numbers, friends decided we needed a break, and wanted to start hanging the numbers by the doors.  Our first number to hang was 12. We went around again to see the numbers that were already hung. Our group felt number 12 should be in the same hallway as 10 and 11.

Once we decided on a space, we went into the office to find "ticky tack."

Even with 2 helpers and a trip to the tank, we were unable to locate any. We guess hanging the numbers will have to wait a little longer.

So, back to writing more numbers.

By lunch, we had created all of the numbers we will need to hang around the various spaces in the building!

Small Capers Day!

Friends were off exploring in different spaces today during small capers!

There was shadow dancing.

Conquering fears and maneuvering through the web.
Exploring with ice.
And designing ramp games with friends.

After small capers was over, a small group helped to transplant one of the plants in our room because "the plant is sad."

"How can we get it out of the ice?"

Early in the week, some friends decided to freeze large items in water. Today, a small group went to the kitchen to try and get those items back out.

There were lots of different materials available for our friends to use.
"How can we get it out of the ice? The dinosaur's cold!" -Landon

"This is like the salt you put down outside. It's going to make it melt!" -Finn

Sprinkles were fun, but they didn't seem to help.
"Mine's not coming out!" -Tommy

Let's try hot water.
"The water is so hot that it's steaming!" -Finn

"It's getting wetter in the corners. This part is bumpy from the salt." -Melody

"You can see his ears now. It's melting" -Ellie

"If we hit it we can chip a lot of it away." -Finn

We did it!
