Mystery Dough

Friends were invited to explore something new this morning. As they walked over with excitement conversations of noticings, wonder and theories began to explode. 
As L.B. added drop by drop of water she exclaimed, "It’s turning into mushy stuff!"
S.B. added, "It looks like powder bubbling up when you make cookies!"
L.B. "Yeah or bread."
J.B. "It looks like icing." 
S.Z. "It’s cookie powder."
L.B. "Don’t move anything for a second I want to study something."
E.M. "When you bury the water with the sand , the water turns into sand!"
G.B. "It’s so squishy and gooey."
"When you add more powdery stuff it looks like peanut butter."
L.B. "When you add more sand it turns back into sand."
W.J. "I don’t want to put my hands in it because it’s yucky!"
I noticed L.B. tunneling the flour to allow water to flow through. She shared, "I’m making a river."
M.L. "It’s kind of squishy!"
W.J. "It’s sticky mud!"
M.L. "It’s like play dough! Yay!"
"I noticed an idea spark as you grinned to yourself and rolled your ball of dough in the flour. “It’s soft again!”
T.R "I think this popcorn powder!"
M.L. "I think it’s seed powder. Yay, I made powder squish!"
A.S. "It’s actually kind of sandy."
T.R. "Wow! It’s sticking!"
M.L. "It’s not sticking to my hands because it has powder!"
J.B. "It feels like cookie dough but it’s just sand. It feels like there’s oil in it."
I.B. "You need eggs to to make cookies."

Maybe later this week we will figure out what this powder is!
