W.A. had big plans for his birthday celebration in Maple! He decided that he wanted a campout with forts, a pretend bonfire and of course s’mores! The only predicament…How will we make real s’mores without a real fire?!
W's family came to the rescue with a toaster oven and all things camping!
We started by building the fire.
"We need rocks and sticks!"
We started by building the fire.
"We need rocks and sticks!"
Then we got to work building the forts!
"We could use blocks."
"We could glue the blocks together so that they stay together!"
"But then we can't play with our blocks anymore."
"Maybe tape?"
"Let's use the tables."
There was a lot of negotiating and figuring out just how many friends can fit without feeling "too cramped".
Friends used their imagination as they searched for animals, looked at the night sky, told stories, roasted marshmallows, sang campfire songs and spent time together reenacting a real campsite.
We ended our morning with real s'mores and sticky smiles!
