A Very Special Birthday!

Yesterday friends created a special gift to give to Ms. Kelly this morning...

This morning we celebrated by making special cards!

A group of friends took a trip to the kitchen to make playdough with Ms. Kelly!

"It's just like a water park!!"

This morning at Capers we further explored pathways of water using funnels and tubing!
Two of the funnels were connected to each other.
"We can't get it out, it just keeps coming up!"

L added a cup to the end of a tube and began adding one spoonful of water at a time to the funnel. Just like last week, she watched it roll and drip through the tube and into the cup.

"This one is a trap because it's not coming out!"
"Maybe it will come out if I add more water."

 C made a "peppermint juice".
"So we crushed up some peppermints and mixed it with water. We stirred and stirred until it was all mixed up. It goes into here and out into the cup then we serve it! Who wants to try some peppermint juice?!"

S and C worked together to make the water go in different directions. After inserting a tube to the top of the funnel, the two pondered together...
"Why isn't it going in either tube?"
"Let's see what happens when we dump it all in."
As C poured out a measuring cup full of water into the funnel and it quickly overflowed around the whole funnel, S yelled, "It's just like a water park!!"

Don't forget to check out what your children experienced in the other rooms!

"Do you want to build a snowman?..."

Friends shrieked as we walked out to the fresh, cold air! The laughter and excitement was contagious as friends rushed over to touch the snow! Some friends began to sing in unison, "Do you want to build a snowman?..." Others took delight in putting the clean powder into their mouths:)

Let the mess begin!

We have been noticing that everytime we paint, friends like the feeling of paint covered hands! This morning we invited friends to paint. The table was covered with paper and trays of paint. The first group of friends rushed to grab and paint smock excited for the chance to paint. When they sat down they took a look at the paint, then looked at each other. Then they looked at me and E asked, "Now what are we supposed to do?" I replied, "I don't know.", waiting to see if they would dig right in. They thought for a couple seconds then E said, "I guess were supposed to put our hands in the paint?!"
Let the mess begin! Friends picked up handfuls of paint rubbing it on the table and noticing how smooth it felt as they rubbed it around. Then they moved on to their arms, squishing it between their fingers, enjoying the feeling of it dripping from their fingers to their hands.
If your child comes home with paint on their clothes, they fully enjoyed this experience! They paint is washable!:)
