"It's Fun making Playdough!"

Some friends went to the kitchen to make playdough today.  We began the process by adding water and oil to the pan.  One of the friends asked: "What is happening to the water?"
"The water makes the bubbles from the oil."
"Oil and water makes bubbles and when you mix it, it makes a lot of tiny bubbles."
We added the salt to the mixture.
We stirred and stirred.
"The salt makes it look yellow!"
"No, it's the oil that makes it look yellow."
"Now since we put the salt in it, it looks a little white and yellow."
We added the cream of tarter and mixed it in.
"What is tarter?" asked a friend.
"It's a type of starch that's white." replied another friend.
"Now it looks like dough and it also looks like milk."
"It has lines in it too!"
We stirred in the flour and added a few drops of food coloring.
"What's happening to the dough?"
"It's turning green!"
"It's sea green."

"Look! It's a big playdough ball!"
"It feels so warm."
"It feels like a stuffed animal."
"It feels like I can have a blanket made out of this."
On our way back to class the maintenance men walked in to check the water temperature.  The friends asked:
"What are you doing?"
"What's happening now to the water?"
"We're testing the water temperature" they replied.
"What is that?" asked another friend.
"It's something that test the temperature of the water. It's called a thermometer."
At the other sink, a friend asked:
"What does it say?"
The man replied: "1, 0, 6."
