Exploring different paths

"I wonder what walks on these paths?"- Lucy

Finding shadows

Exploring an ant

Teacher: Maggie, what are you doing?
Maggie: I'm exploring an ant.
Teacher: What is the ant doing?
Maggie: The ant is trying to get home. Did you know ants carry food on their backs?
Teacher: How did you know that?
Maggie: I just saw it once.

The Colosseum

The children were looking up things about Italy and found the Colosseum. They decided they wanted to build it in the classroom!

Bird watching

The children were so excited to check on the bird house after coming back from spring break. They left a trail of bird seed Monday morning and began watching for birds and other animals.

Some of the girls noticed a dry patch in the grass and said they found something. They tried breaking and digging it apart but to no avail it just wouldn't come apart. Finally, they said " it's just dry mud."

"Spring has sprung."-Miles

Magical moment

Bamboo house

Who ate the seeds??

The children placed their birdhouse in front of school after hearing many birds in this area. They decided to make a sunflower trail to the birdhouse to lead the birds to the house. Ms. Katie's desk is by the front window so the children asked that she keep a look out for birds and take pictures if she sees any eating the seeds or going in the house.

After snack we checked to see if anything ate the seeds. All we found were shells!! The children believed the birds ate the seeds for lunch, but still wanted to check in with Ms. Katie.

Miles asked Ms. Katie if she saw any birds. She said she didn't see any birds but she did take a picture of what she saw out her window. She showed the children a picture of three squirrels eating all of the seeds!

Augie thinks we should try birdseed tomorrow instead of sunflower seeds. Will the birds like that better?
