A Trip Around The Neighborhood

Today we decided to take a trip around the neighborhood to see what we noticed happening around us! We noticed many things and heard just as much.
"What do you think they are doing?"
"I guess they were called to fix something."
"Look at that Piner!"
"I know that say's stop, people are suppose to stop here."
"I ate here before, it's my favorite pizza!"
"Mine's too!"
"It's a big clock on the top of that house!"
"This is a busy street, I know because I been on it before."
"I got cupcakes from here before."

"Look at that beautiful church."
"That means were getting close to my house!"
"I know this place, it's the back of Bristol!"
"Yeah, I been here before."
"It's going to be my next school."
"We're almost back to school."
"I can see it from here!"
Our class was also given some worms today as a surprise! Friends were very happy to know we were adding them to our worm viewer!

Creating A Tornado

This morning during Capers we revisited our work from last week by creating our own water tornado with bottles.
"Maybe we should put some pearls or something in it and see how it moves like in the other one!"
"We need to fill it with water!"
"Maybe we need to put the other one on top."
"I have a compliment...only the red ones float!"
"Let's try blowing, if we all do it together, maybe the water will move."
"I think if you turned it to the side it would look like weights that you use to exercise."
"Let's flip it and see what happens!"

 "TORMADO, TORMADO, TORMADO!"
"Make it bigger!"
"Yeah, spin it faster!"

Don't forget to check out what your children experienced in the other rooms!

Continuing to Notice

This morning we continued our work from yesterday! When you take the time to slow down and really look at something you notice things you didn't see before!
"I can see the stinger!"
"Yeah, they use it to sting people so they don't step on them."
"Yeah, they use it when people try to destroy them!"

"I'm using paint to add the white details on the spider."

"Maybe I could draw a beautiful butterfly. Butterflies like flowers because remember when we let ours out before and she landed on a flower!"

"What are all these little dots on the web?"
"Maybe it rained."

What do you notice when you look closely?

This morning friends were invited to create an insect drawing. They started by sharing what the noticed about the picture in front of them.
"I notice my spider lives on a tree."
"I'm wondering what this red stuff is."
"I notice that it looks like a pine cone."
"I wonder how bees make their hives."
"Maybe they use leaves."

"These are the flowers and these are the little seeds sprouting more flowers."

"This is the tree that the hive is attached to."

"I notice that the spider has hair on it and it has eight legs."
"The ant is underground in its home. This is the grass above. It's really hot out because it's summer."
