Caring for the Playscape

This morning friends worked with the playdough that they made yesterday and did some really great work shadow building.

A group of friends went outside and noticed Ms. Angie raking the rocks back to where they belong. Right away, they were eager to help care for the playscape, so we headed to the shed to find more rakes!

Painting Pine Cones

This morning friends painted pine cones and placed them by the drying rack to dry. Tomorrow we will find the perfect place to hang them in our room!

"What is teal anyway?"

"Let's make a shade of teal!"
"Yeah, let's make a shade of teal?"
"What is teal anyway?"
Friends looked around the room to find things that they thought might be a shade of teal.
We decided its blue and green mixed together but how do we make green?

"We need white to make it lighter!"
"More white!"
"More white!"
"Even more white!"
After 2 cups and 14 teaspoons, we got to the perfect shade!
The name of this beauty is toothpaste!

Show and Share

We started the morning with walk around the neighborhood for some fresh air.

Friends chanted the numbers on house the whole way!
"Three one zero, three one zero."
"What's the next one's number??"

When we got back to school we listened to friends talk about their toys, dolls, pictures, and nature that they brought from home or made in the classroom and even collected on our walk to share.

A Little Red, A Little Orange

"Let's red today!"
"But red is a primary color, we already have it so we would just have to pour it in the jar."
"Well we can make a shade of it."
"Let's add some white to it."

"What would happen if we add some yellow?"
"I think it would maybe change to a different color."

 "It's turning kind of orange."
"I love this color!"
"It looks kind of like Bubble Gum and kind of like Orange Lily Flower."
Some name ideas include Butterfly King, Unicorn, and Cherry...we're still brainstorming on this one.

How many blocks tall are you?

This morning we took some time to sort the food and household items that many of you all brought in! Friends were so excited to help others!

When we came back we continued to explore measurement with blocks!
After friends got measured, they recorded how many blocks long they were.
"I'm 8."
"I'm 8 and a half so I'm taller."

"Ms. Alyssa is 1 and a half more blocks that Ms. Akeba."
