“Let’s Go Bowling!”

The past couple of days friends have been creating a game in our classroom using the big wooden blocks and other materials they could find.

"We have to make the game better!"
"Let's stand back here and just roll the ball in the can."
"If we tilt it a little bit then it will be easier."

"No, if we just use the basket then it will be easier."

"I got 6 points!"

"The cups are the hardest to get the balls in."
"Why are the cups the hardest?"
"Because it's a smaller hole for the balls to go in."

"This is what you keep score on."

"It's breaking, we have to fix it again!"

Dark Red Paint

"Let's make a dark red!"
"We need red black and blue...maybe some white too."
"I think it looks like black cherry!"
Since our day got cut short, we will take a vote tomorrow!

Orange Lily Flower

"Let's make a shade of orange."
"I think we should try to add some black to make it darker. Maybe like one drop."

The names friends came up with today were orange carrot, sunset, orange Toyota, orange pumpkin, peach, tangerine, and orange lily flower.
"Do you want that just because it has your name in it?"
"It's really a flower, look it up!"
Orange Lily Flower was the winner...by a lot!

Compare Between the Two

Today friends did some comparisons between the gak and floam. They have been investigating how long they can get these materials to stretch before they break. They used rulers and yard sticks to measure their work.

What are some differences between the two?
"One of them is green."
"I like the gak better than the floam."
"When we first made the gak it was more stickier but since we've been playing with it it's not that sticky any more."

Does the gak stretch longer than the floam?
"Yes, my gak was 37inches long."
"We should connect our gak together."

"My snail is 4 inches!"

"The gak went up to 4."

"It can stretch so long!"
