The sharing of a design within classrooms

This children are beginning to work together in creating an obstacle game track. Exploration and initial design begins their research.

"All this material is indispensable to make possible children's reading and rereading of individual and group exploration as they are discovering various fields of knowledge. This also allows the construction of theory and hypotheses of work that are interesting and that try to take into account the points of view and times of children without distorting them."- Vea Vecchi

The children construct a racetrack based off James's design

The children decided to use beads as cars because they roll and fit on the track. Each area is either closed off or creates a trap for the beads, so they do not roll off the track or scatter around the room.

"The presence of the atelier is seen as a means to safeguard the complexity of the knowledge-building processes with the aim of using the imagination as a unifying element for the different activities and of viewing the "aesthetic knowledge" as a drive that is rooted within us and leads us to choose among patterns of thinking and among visual images." -Lella Gandini
